Weekend rain, warm next week

PORTLAND, Ore. — Saturday begins cloudy but dry. Rain spreads from south to north across Oregon during the day, reaching the Portland area around 3 to 5 pm.

But next week is a totally different deal. The warmest weather of the year so far comes to the Northwest, along with plenty of clear sky.

A weather system moves into southern Oregon Saturday and sends rain northward across the state late in the afternoon. Saturday night looks rainy.

Sunday will bring plenty of showers, with a few breaks in between.

Saturday will be cool again with highs in the low 50s. But even though showers persist on Sunday, it will be warmer, with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s.

The weather improves Monday, with a partly sunny sky, but still, a few afternoon showers are possible. We make it into the low 60s.

Tuesday begins a warm and dry spell. Look for plenty of sun and highs climbing from the low 60s Tuesday to 70-degrees for the first time this year on Wednesday.

It still looks good Thursday, but there may be a few late day showers.

Over all, going forward, it looks like the shift away from the cool, wet weather of the last couple of weeks will continue.

Stay safe, take care of each other, and have a great weekend.
